Crashed 10-sep-1980 in the sea near Helligvær, aprox. 17 nautical miles northeast of Bodø Airbase. Two fighters had been on a mission to identify and photograph unidentified planes west of Lofoten. On approach to Bodø one of the fighters crashed in the sea after a series of abnormal movements. The pilot  managed to eject, but was too low for the shute to open. He was killed on the spot.

Totalhavari 10 september 1980 i sjøen ved Helligvær, ca 17 nautiske mil nordvest av Bodø flystasjon. To fly hadde vært på tokt for å identifisere og ta bilder av ukjente fly vest av Lofoten. Under landing etter utført oppdrag styrtet det ene flyet i sjøen etter en serie unormale bevegelser. Flygeren, Løytnant Kåre Haugvaldstad, fikk skutt seg ut, men var for lavt til at skjermen åpnet seg. Han ble drept på stedet.
